Spatone is a
natural, gentle daily iron provider.
Spatone
has been clinically proven to be a highly
absorbable source of iron, avoiding the gastro-intestinal side-effects often
associated with supplemental iron intake.
Spatone is
available in boxes of 14 or 28 day supplies. These contain daily sachets
that can either be taken as they are or added to fruit juice (not grape) –
making
Spatone the most convenient liquid iron
available to customers. Always read the leaflet enclosed with the packs.
The Spatone Story
| > |
Spatone
is simply iron-rich water straight from the source. |
|
| > |
Spatone’s
iron rich water comes from Snowdonia and is collected at the Trefriw
Wells Spa. It is believed that the Spa was first discovered by
Romans from the XX Roman Legion stationed at Canovium, 3 miles north
of Trefriw. In about 1874 a Victorian bath and pump house was built
and for the first time the water was sold to the public. |

Published studies show that
Spatone
is easily absorbed and gentle on your stomach, a view backed by
thousands of regular
Spatone
customers! |

to find out more for yourself, you can visit the Spa and it’s tea
rooms. |

Iron deficiency – symptoms and at-risk groups.
| > | Iron deficiency is the most widespread mineral
deficiency, and is particularly prevalent amongst women. |
| > | Iron deficiency may lead to the clinical
condition “iron deficiency anaemia”, often referred to as just
anaemia. |
| > | An estimated 20-30 percent of women of
childbearing age have inadequate iron stores. |
|
Symptoms of iron deficiency: |
|
| > | Fatigue |
| > | Dizziness and shortness of breath |
| > | Headaches, palpitations and altered taste. |
| > | Difficulty in swallowing if long term iron
deficient. |
Groups at greatest risk of developing iron deficiency include:
| > | Pregnant women |
| > | Menstruating women |
| > | Pre-Menopausal |
| > | Vegetarians |
| > | Teenagers |
| > | The Elderly |
Spatone facts:
| > | Iron is probably the one mineral that is most
commonly lacking in diets throughout the world. |
| > | Each sachet contains the equivalent iron found
in 2lbs of spinach or 8lbs of broccoli! |
Note:
Spatone
is not being suggested as a blanket replacement
for other Ferrous Sulphate preparations.
Iron supplements can
sometimes cause tummy upsets and constipation. Although with taking
Spatone
this is unlikely, should problems occur tell your
healthcare professional (e.g. Doctor, Pharmacist, Midwife). They may suggest
you try a combination of the following steps. Dilute
Spatone
in water or fruit juice; take after a meal instead of on an empty stomach;
reduce intake to half a sachet or less and gradually build up to a full
sachet.
Over Usage: In order
to cause acute iron toxicity in young children it is probable that the
contents of over 50 sachets would need to be drunk at once. Poisoning from
excessive consumption is therefore unlikely.
Contraindications: People
who know they have genetic haemochromatosis or carry the haemochromatosis
gene should not take iron supplements, including
Spatone.
