Current: Update / Follow Up - Ramsey Health Fair 26th June

 

In June, myself and Pam Neill of Evolve Holistic Therapies held our  Health Fair up in Ramsey, with all proceeds going to Parkinson’s Disease Society IOM. My Mum passed away in February 2009 after suffering from Parkinson’s. The Parkinson’s Manx Branch were of incredible support, and fun, to my Mum and Dad. In August, with Pam, I was pleased to hand over a cheque for £290 from the health fair to the Chairman, Pamela Shimwell-Mayo and Vice Chairman James Mitchell at the Parkinsons Drop In Lunch at Centre 21, Douglas. I will be helping the Manx Branch of Parkinson’s again in the future, and in the meantime I wish Pamela Shimwell-Mayo and John every success on her incredible fundraising trip  “Monte Carol or Bust” on the 11th September. She will be driving through England, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and down to Monte Carlo. She will be driving between 300-350 kilometres a day. Archive: Manx Telecom Bay Festival - Manx Lifestyle Marquee 18-20 June 2010

 

The Island rocked and rolled in June once again with Jonathon Irving’s Manx Telecom Bay Festival. 30 artistes in 3 days and what a tremendous event it was too! I was invited to have a Manx Bach Flower Remedy stand over the three days as part of the Manx Lifestyle Marquee. This was a great opportunity for people to come along and take a break during the performances and see what else the Island has to offer in the way of Manx social organisations which all are welcome to join. If you wanted to know more about Bach Flower Remedies, and how to use them to help yourself and your pets, you could chat to me,  what about being a Viking, or Ghost Hunting? Fancy learning Circus Skills, you even have a go at that too! You could also get a make over, from hair braiding, facials, henna tattoos and fabulous natural, gorgeous spa face and body treats. There was a wide range of food stalls, with their tantalising smells the whole time! The whole three days was blessed with glorious weather which made for a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, I can’t wait to be there next year!

Archive: Health Fair on Saturday 26 June 2010 at Ramsey Town Hall from 10am to 4pm

 

Pam Neill, Evolve Holistic Therapies and I held our first health fair at Ramsey Town Hall on the 26th June. Proceeds from the Fair were to help the Manx Society of Parkinson’s Disease and we raised approximately £300, which is a great result and will be welcomed by this excellent Charity, which is personally very close to my heart. We had an excellent range of therapies and holistic health and body care for people to experience. These ranged from of course Bach Flower Remedies, exclusive, natural spa face & body products, Forever Aloe Vera, yoga advice, Emotional Freedom Technique and Pranic Healing, hypnotherapy, Quantum Healing, Tarot Card readings, Magnet massage, fabulous candles, crystals, body & spirit goodies. Papagallo’s Cafe provided fresh, home made food, tea and coffee during the day.  The day saw a steady stream of lovely folks keen to try out the therapies on offer, we had a lot of very chilled people, good fun and  great energies in the room by the end of the day! Pam and I are busy fixing a date for our next fair, I’ll keep you posted!

CURRENT: This is an excellent free family information/things to do/family events magazine which can be found in your local Shoprite, Post Office, Schools and local shops. Bach Flower Remedies really come into their own during pregnancy and childbirth. So, Amy Maguire, the Editor asked me to put together an article on this very subject for her magazine. My full page article features in the March/April copy covers how the remedies, which are completely safe for children, by the way, can provide effective and inexpensive, natural support during this special time. Archive:  Last year I adopted a seal rescued by our MSPCA called Coley. He was found under a wall on Fenella Beach, Peel, totally exhausted on the 13 November 2009. He was around 4 weeks old and extremely underweight. He was taken into the care of the Seal Sanctuary pen at the MSPCA and quickly made friends with the other 2 seals in the sanctuary, Haddock and Pollock. Welfare Officer Jenny Corran and her team nursed the pups back to full health and on Wednesday, 28 April this year myself and other seal sponsors  were invited to watch the 3 seals being released back into Manx waters at Pooil Vaaish in the south of the Island. The experience was incredibly moving, and once they got a sniff of the salty air, they instinctively made their way over the shingle and down into the shallows, exploring their new surroundings for a while, taking time to play with seaweed and swim around the rocks before heading out to sea. I don’t think I was the only one to shed a tear or two, witnessing the young pups, well fed and healthy, ready to enjoy anything up to thirty years of life in their natural habitat. The seals require an enormous amount of food to help them reach their optimum weight, by sponsoring a seal you can play a part in ensuring these pups have a good life ahead of them. You can see from my photo of the 3 seals just entering the water, how healthy and energetic they are now!
